Mom-to-Mom

I sympathize, empathize and can help you get back to doing everything you want…without pain, leakage or fear of doing more damage.

How my journey began

I want you to lead the life you want…

Mom to mom, I know this stuff is hard. It’s hard to put yourself first sometimes. It’s hard to get back to the exercise you want to because of fear of doing more harm than good or because of symptoms you are having that no one seems to listen to you about or help you with. It sucks to feel like feeling good again is hopeless. I was there, finally got help, and now I am here to help you through it, so you can come out shining on the other side.

I am a wife and mom of three who has always valued physical, mental and emotional health growing up as a division 1 volleyball athlete.  In pursuit of a way to help people start on the path to their best overall health and life, I became a licensed physical therapist at The George Washington University - trained in women’s health/pelvic floor therapy through the Herman + Wallace Institute, certified yoga instructor through Blue Sun Yoga, certified pre and post natal yoga instructor through Amala School, and health/life coach certified through the Health Coach Institute.

After my first child was born, I went on a long, undiagnosed journey through post partum depression which was a turning point to finding my path towards specialization in treating pre and post partum women.  In a world where it “takes a village” to raise kids, with increasing demands on moms and not enough time or energy left for self care , I am passionate about empowering women, through education, mindful awareness and presence, to fill their cups first.

I enjoy weaving my women’s health physical therapy education with my yoga, mindfulness and health coach training to be able to address each client as a whole person.  It is my greatest hope to share the beauty of a happy and healthy heart, mind, body and spirit with you.

What People Are Saying

“Melissa was wonderful to work with. At a very vulnerable time that could be potentially awkward, she put me at ease immediately. She explained everything she was doing and why, and answered all my questions with kindness and compassion. I would recommend her to anyone looking for quality Physical Therapy care.”

“I started seeing Melissa about four months after my third child was born. All three of my kids were large babies which took it's toll on me! I was feeling very discouraged about my pelvic health and started seeing Melissa with very little hope for recovery. After a few sessions, I was definitely noticing a difference. She gave me some great exercises to work on at home and kept encouraging me to keep going. Her approach to overall wellness and emphasis on maternal health truly makes her a unique PT. On top of that, she's got a great personality and I loved chatting with her about all things mom life. She made me feel comfortable, strong and helped me through those early months of newborn fog.”

“After reading The New Mom’s Revival Guide, I learned how to get my body back to feel great again. The techniques I have picked up from this book have helped me tremendously. This is a must read for all mamas in any stage of their lives!”

“I honestly felt hope for the first time in years. I am so relieved!”
